Hooray for Old Technology!

We had a sudden tragedy the other night--late, post-dishwashing. Our coffeemaker's carafe slipped from its drying perch and just tapped the divider between the kitchen sinks. No one pushed it; it committed suicide all on its own.

. . . Fortunately, we keep on hand our trusy old-school Revere Ware percolator. Hooray!

And we remember how to use it!

It saved the day, by saving the next morning!

Mmmmmm . . . coffee!

Hi Julianna. I was checking for broken links on a post I did a while back. It's a Davy Crockett post and I linked to your pickled walnuts recipe. I just had to let you know how much I too appreciate my percolator. There's nothing like a fresh perked cup of hot coffee in the morning. The only improvement I can think of offhand is, I wish the coffee weren't decafe:) Well better go, I'm preparing a chuckwagon post for tomorrow. Thank you so much for sharing and thank you for the link.

Thanks, Louise, for the kind comment, but *decaf*? That's pretty hardcore! About as close as I've been able to get to *that* scene is *half* decaf! You are truly wild and crazy!
:-)

And I know it's going to sound bad when I say this, but that was not the first time the ol' percolator has come in handy. We're not big-time klutzes, but we *have* broken a carafe or two before.

I should also point out that during the bad ice storm of Dec. 2007, when we had those power outages, the percolator saved us from having to miss our morning coffee--'cause it was bad enough that we didn't have heat or light those mornings!

Yep. Even if I don't use it everyday, I'll never give up my percolator!
