The Pied Piper, Huron, Ohio

When you’re in Huron, Ohio, make sure you save room for a little ice cream, like we did in the middle of June when we were in northern Ohio.

Sue says the Pied Piper’s been around as long as she can remember, so it’s been there forty-plus years.

And every summer there’s a new set of teenagers serving up the soft-serve, and the whole community knows it’s the place to go for chilly treats and tasty eats.

This is the real thing, folks. Don’t miss it.

Additional information: Sue's dad says the Pied Piper was built about 1949 or 1950, and it's always been in this same location. Thus six decades of Pied Piperness!

Ha--another update: There's an "I Love the Pied Piper" Facebook page, and by now it's got nearly 2,000 fans signed up. The primary discussion seems to be, "your nut dips are the best" and "your shredded chicken sandwiches are the best."

And here's the kicker: whoever created this FB page totally "lifed" my picture of the neon Pied Piper sign at night. Right off my blog! Without even providing a link to my post! Harrumph.

Meanwhile, it's kind of cool to know that about 2,000 folks have seen my little ol' picture!
