We had it delivered all the time in Columbia--my whole life. The guy would show up at, like, 4 a.m., and he had a prosthetic arm, of all things. Of course I never saw him, since I was never, ever, away at 4--though I heard his truck!

Did you know that Central Dairy was recently sold to Prairie Farms? Yeah, when I heard that, I was worried, too. Fortunately, so far, they have retained the Central Dairy name and logo. (Well, why not in this area? we love and trust it!)

Also fortunately, they don't seem to have plans of closing the Central Dairy ice cream counter on Madison, though I heard rumors they were considering it. Banish the thought! That's one of Jeff City's biggest tourist attractions!Julianna Schroederhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11277727700915648607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7245225178580170753.post-82402628427544739632010-12-23T23:24:42.614-06:002010-12-23T23:24:42.614-06:00Elizabeth, thank you for you comment about our nat...Elizabeth, thank you for you comment about our nativity figures. I have to admit: we're missing one of our Wise Men (or the "Wise Guys," as I like to call them, for fun). I have no idea where he is or what became of him. When we bought the house, he was missing (and I believe he's been missing for decades).

Guess I better start looking on eBay, or scanning flea markets.

It's kind of embarrassing. I keep thinking to myself, "Well, Melchior's temporarily indisposed or something."

Fortunately, it's not for certain there were three! Oh well.Julianna Schroederhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11277727700915648607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7245225178580170753.post-18736607108853939602010-12-23T23:19:44.644-06:002010-12-23T23:19:44.644-06:00Don't worry, folks, I'm not going to turn ...Don't worry, folks, I'm not going to turn this into a Blog of Religious Commentary. I'm not a super Christian, so I don't have a lot of room to talk. But it annoys me when people get so worked up over things they simply don't understand.

It seems that a lot of (vocal) Christians get into the "feeling" part of the spiritual experience, but they fail to educate themselves about the history, foundations, and structure of their religion. As with everything else, a thorough understanding of Christianity should involve such "dry" topics as the church in the middle ages, the rise and fall of various orthodoxies, and so on. You don't have to be a Roman Catholic, for instance, to appreciate the tremendous influence the Catholic Church has had for centuries. Such knowledge also enriches one's understanding of our entire Western culture, too.Julianna Schroederhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11277727700915648607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7245225178580170753.post-65606176085051963862010-12-23T19:26:16.306-06:002010-12-23T19:26:16.306-06:00Julianna, the only problem with your argument is y...Julianna, the only problem with your argument is you're countering belief with reason and evidence.
